Qualitative Research

Our team specializes in capturing the richness of lived experiences through qualitative methods. Drawing on Haroon Khalid and Anam Zakaria’s background in anthropology, and expertise in oral histories and narrative-building, we offer:

1. Life Stories & Oral Histories: Capturing personal journeys and intergenerational memories.
2. Qualitative Interviews: In-depth explorations to understand individual and community experiences.
3. Organizational Histories: Documenting the evolution of institutions and their impact.

Our experience includes:

Driving Canada: A Front Seat View of Immigration through Uber – A groundbreaking project documenting the oral histories of recent immigrants who drive, or have driven, for Uber in Canada.

Ethnographic Research on Religious and Cultural Spaces – Haroon Khalid’s extensive work in documenting the histories of religious minorities, Sufi shrines, gurdwaras, and other significant historical sites, leading to several published books, including A White Trail (2013), In Search of Shiva (2015), Walking with Nanak (2016), and Imagining Lahore (2019).

Oral Histories of war, violence and genocide – Anam Zakaria’s research with survivors of war, violence and genocide, resulting in critically acclaimed books such as Footprints of Partition, Between the Great Divide, and 1971.

Diasporic Communities – An ongoing Qissa initiative collecting oral histories of immigrants who arrived in Canada at different time periods, offering a window into the evolving immigrant experience.

From exploring the untold stories of Uber drivers to preserving intergenerational memories of communities, our work continues to shed light on diverse narratives that shape our world.
